Alva R. "Alvie" Bond, 78, of Galesburg, passed away at 5:45 p.m., Monday, March 5, 2018 at his home.
He was born April 25, 1939 in St. Paul, Kansas to Joe W. and Doris L. (Niles) Bond. He graduated from Erie High School and later attended Pittsburg State University where he received his OSHA certification.
Alvie worked as a foreman on oil rigs in California for 30 years. He then worked as OSHA safety director for 10 years at Beachner Construction until retiring and moving to Galesburg.
He enjoyed his horses and spending time on his farm.
He and Linda Morgan were married June 14, 1957. They later divorced.

Alva Bond, Jr. of Porterville, CA
One Daughter – Anita Lynn Bond of Porterville, CA
Eight Grandchildren
Eleven Great-Grandchildren
One Great-Great-Grandson
Two Brothers – Joe Bond and his wife, Cheryl, of Arlington, TX
Herbert Bond and his wife, Linda, of Walker Lake, NV
One Sister – Judy Truitt and her husband, Dick, of Centralia, IL
Special Caregivers – Mary Hines, Carolyn Lamb, Yvonne Bond, and friends and neighbors of Galesburg
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Richard Wayne Bond.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018 at South Mound Cemetery under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Memorials are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
